Data Entry Clerk at Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP), Los Angeles, CA
General Summary: Working with LAUP's Research & Evaluation Department, the Data Entry Clerk will enter and verify a variety of data in appropriate formats and will be responsible for tracking and verifying the quality of data entry from all sources.
Primary Responsibilities
- Preparing and sorting source documents
- Identifying and coding data from source documents according to established coding protocols
- Entering data from source documents into electronic form
- Resolving and/or interpreting garbled or indecipherable messages
- Contacting originators of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data
- Keeping track of source documents
- Comparing data entered with source documents to verify accuracy and making necessary corrections to information entered.
- Filing or routing source documents that have been entered
- Maintaining records of completed work
- Knowledge of PC operations and software (Word processing and spreadsheet) are required
- Ability to use computers (including hardware and software) to set up data files, enter data, and process information.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form and get clarification when necessary
- Ability to Identify and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Ability to compute averages, ranges, and percentages to draw bar graphs.
- Edits work for spelling and grammar
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Follows policies and procedures
- Completes tasks correctly and on time
- Displays willingness to make decisions using sound and accurate judgment
- Monitors own work to ensure quality
Required Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years experience performing data entry in a business setting.
Formal Education: Associates degree or higher preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Language Proficiency: Bilingual Spanish (read, write, speak) is a plus (though not required).
